Nanaimo Pom Conundrum

Posted in gastronomy by petercombe on September 15, 2008

I used to buy awesome Nanaimo bars from Choice’s Market in Vancouver. The only perplexing thing about the bars was the fact that to purchase one would set you back $1.09, four were priced at $4.69. Go figure.

I’ve noticed a similar oddball pricing strategy at the local Mollie Stone’s Market here in San Francisco. Pom Wonderful costs $4.49 for the 16oz, $8.99 for the 24oz – wouldn’t it be better to buy two small sizes? It’s cheaper to buy two small sizes – and you get more juice.
