a tale of a few cities

When in Rome in the early 80’s, my brother and I were taken by the aperitif ‘Cynar’, the fact that artichoke figured prominently was rather interesting. I’ve never tried the elixir, yet have been intrigued by its allure for years. I had no success in obtaining Cynar in British Columbia –  however it may now be available.

After doing a bit of research on the stuff through Google, it appears to be a kinder, gentler version of Campari. Because of its artichoke component, Cynar is also regarded as a digestive. Commonly (in Italy) it is served with orange juice over ice.

In San Francisco Cynar is quite reasonably priced. It will be my next purchase when visiting Laurel Village up the hill.

Finally picked some up – this stuff is great – if you can get your hands on Orangina, that and some ice will suffice.
