St Sebastian

Posted in Art by petercombe on June 23, 2009

Above: Damien Hirst, Saint Sebastian, Exquisite Pain, 2007 (detail), glass, steel, bullock, arrows, crossbow bolts and formaldehyde solution, 126 3/4 x 61 1/4 x 61 1/4 inches.

It was incredible to be able to see one of Damien Hirst’s formaldehyde pieces at the MCA in Denver. Photos do not do the work justice. There was an incredibly ethereal quality to the sculpture.
