Painting With Light

What is LAPP ?

Besides lights and colours, light performances and images, the visible environment is of an importance not to be under estimated. The interaction between background, light layout, with its sometime strange appearance of hard light, achieve the desired atmosphere and constitute the special effects of light art performance. LAPP is a symbiosis of time exposure and performed light art. Many LAPP compositions consist of up to 20 single steps between opening and closure of the shutter. This requires that, apart from imagination, fantasy and creativity, the performer must have body control and train the exact rate of steps synchronised with the handling and distribution of lights.

LAPP photos are only generated in front of the camera. There are no layer techniques in use and no computer manipulations involved.
