Eva and Franco Mattes have long been making high art of hijinks, from tricking the entire city of Vienna, to unleashing vicious computer viruses. The couple’s latest coup features pieces they pilfered in the 1990s from some of the world’s most prized works of art. Now that the statute of limitations has run out on their potential crimes, the Matteses are revealing the steals.
