We stumbled upon this rather interesting Roman cafe on the Via del Babuino, half way between Piazza di Spagna and Piazza del Popolo. Patrons sit amongst Venetian sculptor Antonio Canova’s plaster models and casts.

Visiting this beautiful cafe near Piazza Venezia in Rome,  Joe and myself after having finished 2 cappuccinos were told by the owner that they were on the house. It wasn’t the first time this happened on this particular visit to Italy. I guess we came with a good vibe.

Time flies – we’ve been back from Rome for over two weeks now. Incidentally the sculpture’s size in the photo above was mere inches. It was a marvel to observe and can be found at the Museo Capitolini in Rome.

One of my favorite spots in Rome centres on Bernini’s sculpture of an elephant supporting an obelisk. I remember, years ago passing this many times on my way to the Dante Alighieri school near Pantheon. It was odd seeing it this time as I remember the piazza being rather small, yet on this particular visit the square seemed huge and much less intimate. Quite the reverse of how one usually remembers things.
